Mr. Selkirk has over 32 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, having founded or co-founded and served as a President, CEO and Chief Financial Officer of several private equity backed exploration and production (“E&P”) companies.
Mr. Selkirk began his career in the energy industry in 1991 at Natural Gas Partners learning about energy and investments under the tutelage of Richard Rainwater, Ken Hersh and David Albin. He left NGP in 1998 to co-found Encore Acquisition Company (NYSE: EAC) in partnership with Jon Brumley. After Encore, he founded or co-founded several independent oil and gas companies in partnership with Pearl Energy Investments, Old Ironsides Energy, Natural Gas Partners, Quantum Energy Partners, Warburg Pincus, Chase Capital Partners and others. While leading those companies, Mr. Selkirk was responsible for sourcing, evaluating, negotiating and completing numerous oil and gas asset acquisitions and divestures with several counterparties including, but not limited to, ExxonMobil Corp, Shell Western E&P Inc, Diamondback Energy Inc., Callon Petroleum Company, Whiting Petroleum Corporation and Lario Oil Gas Company.
Shortly after the death of his first wife, Amy Selkirk in 2012, Mr. Selkirk partnered with Baylor, Scott and White and legendary medical oncologist, Dr. Joyce O’Shaughnessy, to form the Amy Selkirk Breast Cancer Research Fund. The fund has supported two clinical trials directed by Dr. O’Shaughnessy in an effort to find a cure for triple negative breast cancer. Research is ongoing.
Mr. Selkirk earned a B.B.A in Finance and Real Estate from Southern Methodist University in 1991.
